This programme of 8-weeks offers an integral approach to oneness by bringing together the three key elements of yoga: asanas, pranayama and meditation.

With a specific emphasis on meditation, YogMed's approach to Yoga is one of bringing the body and mind, systematically, to stillness and tranquility. YogMed generates a higher awareness of body movements and breathing, which prepare the mind for meditation. The programme starts with a gentle exploration of the breath (pranayama) and then gently moves onto a flow of gentle asanas (yogic movements) to allow the body to feel a sense of physical liberation. Thereafter, students will be led into various meditation methods.

A particular focus is on Satyananda Yoga Nidra, a simple guided meditation, practiced while lying down, and is often known as "yogic sleep". It involves a systematic relaxation of all layers of being - from the physical through to the psychic - and provides a blissful experience in which the body and mind sleep, but the awareness remains active.

The programme will incorporate the following components:

1. Asanas and Pranayama

An exploration of breathwork, followed by gentle asanas to open up the body into a free, flexible and liberated state.

2. Meditation

An introduction to meditation techniques followed by actual practice of the various methods, with a particular emphasis on Satynanda Yoga Nidra.

This course, by bringing together the three most fundamental aspects of yoga teachings, is an apt demonstration of sage Patanjali's belief: that yoga is a way that brings the mind to silence, to enable the experience of full being.

YogMed is ideal for serious beginners who would like to explore and experience the transformational aspects of yoga and meditation practices.

Intro to YogMed is developed and led by Eugenia Gajardo, a corporate leader of over 20 years who has found that the key to inner balance and peace, for her, was through yoga and meditation. To this end, she has completed the rigorous three-year, 2,200-hour Satyananda Yoga Teacher Training at the Ashram in Mangrove Mountain, Australia, and has also studied and practised many different techniques of meditation, including Vipassana, Mindfulness, Antar Mouna and Khaya Sthayrium.
